140th Canton Fair Review: Woodworking PUR Adhesives | SINOHESIVE

Release time: 2026-10-28

The 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) concluded in Guangzhou on October 27, 2026.

Held from  October 23 to 27,the five-day event brought SINOHESIVE together with buyers, furniture manufacturers, building material companies and industry partners from different markets at Booth 13.0D10.

Flat Lamination · Profile Wrapping · Edge Banding · Door Assembly

Many conversations focused on practical production challenges rather than individual product grades:

How should manufacturers select adhesives for materials such as PET, PVC and WPC?

Why do customers in hot climates place greater emphasis on heat resistance and long-term stability?

Why can decorative films lift at corners during profile wrapping?

Why can an edge band look secure after production but develop bond failure later?

Demand for PUR adhesives in the global woodworking market is moving beyond initial adhesion toward material compatibility, production efficiency and reliable performance over time.

01 | Insights from the Exhibition Floor

Real production needs go beyond technical specifications

The steady flow of visitors through the Building and Decorative Materials exhibition area was one of the most immediate impressions of this year's fair.

Buyers moved between stands displaying panels, furniture, decorative materials and production equipment. For an industrial adhesive supplier, the event offered more than a place to showcase products: it provided a direct view of the challenges manufacturers face.

Those challenges vary by market. Customers in hot climates place particular emphasis on heat resistance. High-speed production lines require suitable initial bond strength and open time. Manufacturers introducing PET, PVC, WPC and other materials first need to establish whether an adhesive is compatible with their specific material combination.

02 | At Booth 13.0D10

Applications were at the center of the conversation

SINOHESIVE focused on four  woodworking PUR adhesive applications during discussions with customers:

Flat Lamination

Profile Wrapping

Furniture Edge Banding

Door Assembly

Our booth was designed to support application discussions, rather than simply present a list of product grades. The question behind many conversations was:

“Which adhesive is suitable for my materials and equipment?”

Discussions therefore began with the substrate, decorative surface material, equipment, line speed and intended service environment. Understanding these conditions provides a meaningful basis for adhesive selection.

03 | Four Applications, Different Priorities

Matching the bonding solution to the manufacturing process

Flat Lamination: A Growing Range of Material Combinations

MDF, particleboard, plywood and WPC substrates are combined with PET, PVC, wood veneer and other decorative surfaces. Customer priorities extend beyond bond strength to initial adhesion, open time, production speed, surface finish, heat resistance, moisture resistance and long-term stability.

Profile Wrapping: Corners Often Present the Greatest Challenge

Wall panels, decorative slats, door frames, skirting boards and moldings involve corners, curved surfaces and material springback. Establishing an initial bond is only the first step. The aim is to maintain reliable bonding through continuous production and subsequent use.

Edge Banding: Performance Matters Beyond the Production Line

Kitchen furniture, bathroom cabinets and wooden doors, particularly those used in hot or humid environments, place greater demands on heat, moisture and water resistance. Adhesive performance cannot be assessed solely by how a finished component looks immediately after production; its behavior over time also matters.

Door Assembly: Hidden Bonds Still Need to Be Reliable

Bonds between door cores and facings, frames and panels, and internal structural components are hidden in the finished product, yet contribute directly to its long-term stability. For these applications, SINOHESIVE emphasizes testing with actual production materials before moving to volume manufacturing.

04 | Three Changes We Observed

What five days of customer discussions revealed

1. Material Combinations Are Becoming More Complex

PET, PVC, WPC, SPC, MDF, wood veneer, aluminum and new decorative materials continue to expand the options available to furniture and building material manufacturers. Adhesive selection increasingly depends on compatibility with the specific materials involved.

2. End-Use Conditions Are Receiving More Attention

Hot climates bring heat resistance into focus, while humid environments demand moisture resistance. High-speed production requires appropriate initial adhesion and open time, and premium furniture places greater emphasis on surface finish and long-term durability.

3. Customers Need More Than a Technical Data Sheet

"How should we test this?" "Which equipment settings should we adjust?""Do we need to revalidate the process after changing the decorative surface?" These questions highlight a growing need for products, testing, process guidance and application support.

05 | After the Fair

Moving from initial conversations to practical project work

As the exhibition closed on October 27 and visitors left the halls, our work moved into its next stage:

Clarifying material details that could not be fully confirmed at the booth.

Arranging sample testing for customers with specific projects.

Reviewing equipment configurations and processing conditions.

Validating new material combinations through practical testing.

A trade fair establishes the connection. Follow-up testing and actual production determine whether a bonding solution is suitable for the application.

The fair has ended, but conversations with the global woodworking and building materials markets continue.

06 | From Guangzhou to Global Markets

Continuing the conversation with woodworking manufacturers

Five days at the Canton Fair offered another close look at changes across the furniture, woodworking and building decoration industries.

A broader range of materials.

Faster production speeds.

Higher expectations for environmental performance and VOC control.

Greater demands for heat resistance, moisture resistance and long-term stability.

These changes lead to a practical question:

How can different materials be bonded reliably under real production conditions?

Across flat lamination, profile wrapping, edge banding, door assembly and other woodworking applications, SINOHESIVE aims to provide more than adhesive alone. Understanding the materials, equipment and process is the starting point for identifying a suitable PUR bonding solution.

Understand the Materials · Understand the Equipment · Understand the Process
